Howard Webb, the chief referee, has called an emergency meeting of all officials, and could AXE blundering VAR duo after being left AGHAST as howlers saw Arsenal and Brighton denied?

The PGMOL has admitted to VAR mistakes against Arsenal and Brighton.

According to a statement, both incidents were caused by "human error."

All officials were summoned to Stockley Park for an emergency meeting by the chief referee.

After two embarrassing - and potentially crucial - VAR gaffes in one day, new refs chief Howard Webb has summoned all officials to Stockley Park for an emergency summit.

In a bizarre gaffe revealed by Sportsmail, bungling video official Lee Mason forgot to draw the correct lines to determine whether a Brentford player was offside in the build-up to their equalizer against title-chasing Arsenal at the Emirates on Saturday.

On a bad day for the under-fire system, Brighton saw a goal chalked off in a 0-0 draw with rivals Crystal Palace after VAR John Brooks drew the offside line from the WRONG defender.

According to sources, an aghast Webb - who is said to have reacted incredulously - may now fire the bungling pair after ordering an urgent review in which all options are on the table.

The 51-year-old Yorkshire native, who returned to the UK last year after a stint in the United States, has summoned all Premier League referees, assistant referees, and VAR officials to a meeting on Tuesday. Attendance is thought to be mandatory as Webb attempts to avoid further disasters.

Following their VAR gaffes, Lee Mason (L) and John Brooks (R) could be fired.

The new chief was forced to contact the Gunners and European hopefuls Brighton to 'acknowledge significant errors in the VAR process', according to refs' body PGMOL.

'Both incidents, which were due to human error and related to the analysis of offside situations, are being thoroughly reviewed,' they added.

The acknowledgement came after both clubs were enraged by the decisions, which could have far-reaching consequences for their respective ambitions this season.

Mason, also 51, failed to notice Christian Norgaard was offside when he crossed for Ivan Toney to equalize.

In response to the decision to allow the goal to stand, Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta stated that "principles" of defending must change when "rules" change.

Meanwhile, Brighton announced yesterday morning that they had received an apology from the refereeing body, which they accepted.

After Pervis Estupinan scored for Roberto De Zerbi's side, Brooks drew the offside line from the wrong Palace defender.

'As PGMOL confirmed last night, a serious error was made in disallowing Pervis Estupinan's goal at Crystal Palace yesterday afternoon,' the club said.

PGMOL also admitted to making an error in ruling out Pervis Estupinan's goal at Crystal Palace

PGMOL also admitted making a mistake when ruling out Pervis Estupinan's goal at Crystal Palace.

'The lines drawn in the VAR room to determine whether Pervis was offside were incorrect, and the goal should have stood.' Despite being deeply disappointed by the error, the club has accepted PGMOL's apology and will make no further comment.'

Brooks was scheduled to be the VAR for tonight's Merseyside derby and Arsenal's match against Manchester City on Wednesday night. PGMOL declined to comment on whether he would remain in his position during the games.

It was clear that VAR should have ruled out Ivan Toney's goal against Arsenal on Saturday
